A story of hope for kids about Domestic Violence. The Magic Carpet Ride is a story about all the different feelings a child might have when there is violence in the home and what helps. The Rainbow House (a fictional place) is a safe place to explore the many feelings that go with living in a home where violence is experienced. There are always losses associated with violence. Some of these may be loss of a sense of safety, loss of a relationship with a parent, loss of a pet, having to move houses or schools, potential loss of grandparents. Children can also feel guilty because of their developmental capacity to reality test situations and may think it is their fault.
